Supplying a printready book means: a PDF file for the thesis, cover and invitation cards. In a correct PDF, the layout is fixed in a way that is independent of the computer where it is opened.
To ensure the pdf is printready, make sure it meets the following requirements:
All fonts in the document are embedded into the PDF;
The line thickness of figures (also of illustrations, etc.) is at least 0.10 points. Thinner lines will not be visible in print.
The resolution of photos is at least 250 dpi, and resolution of black and white line-illustrations at least 600 dpi;
Make sure not to use shades of gray lighter than 10% since these will not be visible in print;
All pages within the PDF file have the same size;
The ink coverage is not over 300% (this could happen if Black is made out of 4 colors)
Always judge your design in 'Overprint Preview', otherwise you may be in for a surprise after printing. You can find this option under advanced - print production (in Acrobat 8).
If one or more of the above conditions are not met, then the pdf is NOT considered printready and the problem should be resolved before production can be continued. This may be the submission of a new PDF or we can try fixing the problems in our studio with specially developed software.By providing us with a non-printable PDF, additional costs will almost always be incurred!Prevent additional costs by supplying in advance a test file of your book.
