Inserting images in MS Word Print E-mail

Inserting figures in the text can best be done using tables. By inserting a table in the text, with the image and the legend inside, you hold the best control over the layout and placement.

Step 1.

Place the cursor where you want to insert figure.

Insert a Table:  Table -> Insert -> Table.  Create a table of 1 column and 2 rows.

Step 2.

Move the cursor in the top row of the newly created table and insert figure through:

Insert -> Picture -> From File ... the desired figure.

If you want to place an image from another program, then choose Paste Special -> Windows Enhanced Metafile.
The image adjusts automatically to the margins of your page.

Double-click on the image in the menu "Format Picture". Here you may make changes to the layout of the image.

In the tab "Layout" place the table 'in line with text'

In the tabs "Size" and "Image" the size may be adjusted and the image can be cropped.

Click in the little square at the top left of the table to select the entire table.
Choose from the right menu "Table properties"

Through the "Borders and Shading ..." option, you can remove the border of the table.

The result is shown here. The image and its legend are neatly kept together and can be moved as a whole.
