Many sorts of papers are possible, some papers have been standardized, like: woodfree* offset (HVO), machine coated paper (MC) and wood-free Roman.
  • Machine Coated paper has a very smooth surface, so photos can be displayed very sharp and detailed.
  • Wood-free offset has a rough texture and is thicker than MC. The disadvantage of this rougher surface is that images are printed less detailed.
  • Woodfree Roman is a slightly colored wood-free paper with extra thickness. This means that the paper is thicker than other papers.
HVO and MC paper are available in different weights (thicknesses =), 80, 90 or 100 grams HVO  /  90 or 115 grams MC.
Whatever paper you choose, all papers are now produced environmentally friendly.
Cover

For the cover we usually use 240 grams coated sulfate paperboard carton, a high quality sort of cartboard that is especially suitable for book covers, because of its rigidity. The carton is originally white. One side has a smooth, matte-gloss finish, which makes it ideal for printing photos or drawings, in black and white or in one or several colors.
Apart from this white cartboard, various specialty papers are available, with different textures and/or colors.
* Woodfree paper: A printing and writing paper which contains little or no mechanical woodpulp. For statistical purposes any paper which contains less than 10% mechanical pulp is categorized as woodfree. If the proportion is greater than 10% it is categorized as mechanical paper. Woodfree paper may be coated (CWF) or uncoated (UWF). Woodfree paper is sometimes known as "fine paper." In the United States, woodfree paper is known as "free sheet."
