Limburg clocks and their makers is the first book in which clocks and their makers are described in details from both areas Dutch and Belgian Limburg. The book is based on results from more than 25-year study that led to a thesis by promotion of Dr. P.Th.R. Mestrom PhD at the University of Maastricht.
Limburg clocks and their makers describes the period from the second half of the 14th century until about 1850, the era when clocks are made in this area. The book comprises three parts:
1. A description of the technical and aesthetic characteristics of Limburg clocks and cabinets where they are placed, with pictures spend extra support. 2. The socio-historical background of the watchmakers. 3. A survey of nearly five hundred Limburg watchmakers to biographical information. By watchmaker are yet to ascertain the extent of both private and public collections of watches manufactured by him named and described.
In October 2005 appeared above publication of the Historical Society Sibbe-IJzeren, a regional-historical contribution of a group of friends born in Sibbe consisting January Heuts, Hans Franssen, January Gelissen, Rene Heuts, Joseph Jacobs and Wim Heuts. Purpose of the book is a broad historical overview of the development of IJzeren-Sibbe of the pre-history to the present. The book is a feast of recognition for anyone who is born at Sibbe and IJzeren and a nicely illustrated book for those looking for information on these villages.
Wijnandsrade.
